Spring 2023 II

Midshipman art on display

Earlier this semester library staff collaborated with midshipmen from the literary publication The Labyrinth.  Midshipmen from that group submitted photography and artwork that will remain on display on the library’s main floor for the rest of the semester.  Please stop by and take a look at their great work!

Lots of faculty talks and band concerts still to come

The semester may be half over, but there are a number of lunchtime events in the library still to come. Our concert series with the USNA Band has only just begun with three more performances over the next month. Then we’ll round out the faculty research talks with two more in April. Find the full schedule on our News & Events page.

Looking for a great book for spring break?

If you’re looking for a good read for Spring Break, consider visiting the library’s popular reading collection on the main floor.  Library staff are constantly updating this collection to keep it fresh. To suggest a title to add to our collection of pleasure reading books, please email nbrown@usna.edu.

If you don’t find what you’re looking for in Nimitz, remember you also have access to the DoD MWR Libraries (https://www.dodmwrlibraries.org/) which includes an extensive collection of popular ebooks and audiobooks (and many other resources!). Use the information on your CAC for access.

Remote access to library resources available during Spring Break

Traveling for spring break? You can still access library resources from off the Yard, should you need them. Be sure to install the necessary software on your laptop before you go. You can find the Instructions for Remote Access to USNA document here, and follow the Level III instructions.

Partner spotlight: The Writing Center

Located on the first deck of Nimitz Library, the Writing Center welcomes all writers at all stages of the writing process, from brainstorming an outline to polishing your prose (or poetry!). We have daytime (M-F, 0755-1600) & nighttime (Su-Th, 2000-2200) hours and weekend online paper review; walk-ins are welcome, or you can schedule an appointment. Our team of writing specialists, professional tutors, and peer tutors will work with you on any writing project in any discipline, from history essays to lab reports, and from plebe English papers to your capstone. We are also now offering communication support for public speaking, presentation skills, and interview preparation; specialty one-on-one consultations are available on Tuesdays & Wednesdays.

For more information on scheduling one-on-one appointments, please visit our website. And save the date for our upcoming Poetry Open Mic Night on Thursday, April 13!

Helping you do your best at USNA, get research help anytime.
