Nimitz Library 50th Anniversary

50th Anniversary Kick-Off

Join us on the Nimitz Library Main Floor on Thursday, 7 September at 1200 for a 30 minute retrospective of Nimitz Library by Larry Clemens, Dean for Information Services and Director of Nimitz Library. The talk will be immediately followed by an exhibit opening and reception to celebrate Nimitz Library's 50th anniversary. No RSVP required.

Naming Contest for Renovated Space

Help Nimitz Library select a name for our renovated space that overlooks College Creek and the Severn River!

Since this area of the library reopened to the USNA community in 2021, Nimitz staff have struggled with what to call this space. It has been referred to as both the "renovated space" and the "overlook room," but those names just don't resonate when there are spaces named the "Nautilus Room" and the "Annapolis Room" in the same building. To remedy this, the library will be holding a contest this fall to have USNA-affiliated users suggest a new name that better fits the space.

For more information on the contest and submit an entry, visit the Naming Contest section of this guide.

Faculty Research Talks

Mark your calendar for this semester’s outstanding lineup of Faculty Research Talks at Nimitz. These faculty were selected based on recommendations from midshipmen, and the talks provide the opportunity for them to share their research in plain language with a non-expert audience. Join us after lunch in the Nimitz Library Nautilus Room for any or all of them!
