This guide provides information on accessing ebooks in a variety of disciplines.

Accessing eBook Resources

Don't forget! You need to be logged in to the VPN (for faculty) or VMware (for midshipmen) in order to access Nimitz Library resources from off the Yard. 

ABC-CLIO

ABC-CLIO ebooks cover a variety of disciplines. They are purely web-based and cannot be downloaded, but you can print portions of the ebooks.

EBSCO eBooks

EBSCO's eBook Collection covers philosophy, law, social sciences, and much more. Create an account by clicking the Sign In button in the upper right corner and selecting Create a New Account. You will need to set up an account for many EBSCO features such as search alerts and storing articles in folders for later use.  You will also need it to download ebooks from this platform, although most of our Ebscohost Ebooks cannot be downloaded.

Gale eBooks

The Gale Virtual Reference Library offers ebook collections in law and social sciences, and many more disciplines. These ebooks can be viewed in discrete chapters, and each chapter can be downloaded as a PDF file.

University Presses

Many university presses have made available their ebook collections free-of-charge during the COVID-19 crisis.

Project Muse is providing access to ebooks from many UPs including MIT Press, Johns Hopkins University Press, UVA Press and many more.
