This guide is for FL210. It helps support the Final Semester Project.
"You are asked to choose an area of the world (region, society, social/cultural community within a region of the world etc.) that sparks your interest outside the United States. Consider choosing an area that is also related to your major region choice (FASA or FASM). Find out about issues of importance to the people in your area of choice or an aspect affecting or contributing to change in this area of choice. Consider, for example one or two of the following questions: What are some of the pressing issues for the people who live there? How do different age groups /interest groups form and maintain their own subculture? Where do such subcultures interact? How do neighborhood developments contribute to larger area change? How does spatial planning evolve and contribute to the cultural landscape? You may think about regional planning as affecting community, cultural and social developments or, for example, water resource or environmental management. How does migration affect an urban area? How do social networks contribute to social and political change? How do online communities contribute to regional processes or a sense of cultural identity? How do ethnic or racial tensions define the area?"
