How to get Mobile and Off-Campus Access to E-Resources

Some library resources can be used via mobile devices or from off-campus. This guide will help identify which resources do so, and how.

About this resource

IEEE resources are described on the following page, http://libguides.usna.edu/ece?hs=a.

IEEE Mobile Access

In order to access IEEE with a mobile device:

-Bring your device on-campus

-Access USNA’s WiFi

-Go to http://www.ieee.org/ieeexplore/

-Go to My Settings, then Remote Access

-Follow the instructions to pair your device. Users will be asked to sign in with an IEEE personal account before pairing.

-Click the blue Refresh Remote Access button to maintain access.

Success!  This device can now be used off-site for 90 days to access IEEE Xplore. User must go to IEEE Xplore on the paired device and log in with their personal account to access the roaming subscription.

-After 90 days, users will be prompted to again pair their device and can follow the same steps as the initial pairing.

IEEE maintains documentation at: http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/Xplorehelp/#/tools/toolsForAdministratorsAndLibrarians/accountManagement/remoteAccess

Note that USNA IT security requirements limit use to approved laptops, as phones and tablets are not allowed on our Wi-Fi network.
